Spike the Dragon Flies the European Le Mans Series Skies with Hyett, Delétraz, and Cameron

ST. CHARLES, Ill. (February 13, 2025) – After a dominant first season together that culminated in the 2024 European Le Mans Series championship title and a podium finish at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, AO Racing and TF Sport are reuniting for another campaign in 2025. The fan-favorite No. 99 Oreca LMP2 prototype, Spike the Dragon, will once again take to the track with an all-star lineup featuring PJ Hyett, Louis Delétraz, and Dane Cameron. The trio will tackle the six-round championship, kicking off at the 4 Hours of Barcelona at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, on April 6.

“It’s great to continue AO’s relationship with TF in the ELMS for 2025,” said Team Principal Gunnar Jeannette. “Winning the overall ELMS championship and finishing second at Le Mans was an amazing start to our partnership that we look to build upon this year with PJ, Louis, and Dane.  After the great reception of Spike the Dragon at Le Mans in 2024, we can’t wait to see him flying around all the tracks in the ELMS Calendar.”

Hyett, team owner and driver at AO Racing, has proven himself a formidable competitor in sports car racing, earning the most pole positions of any IMSA WeatherTech driver in the 2024 season. He secured his first LMP2 prototype podium at the 24 Hours of Le Mans last summer, where he shared the cockpit with returning teammate Delétraz. Delétraz returns to the team as the 2024 series champion, adding the recent win to his three other endurance racing LMP2 championships. Cameron, the reigning IMSA WeatherTech GTP class champion, strengthens the lineup further. A four-time professional sports car racing titleholder, he also competes alongside Hyett in AO Racing’s full-season IMSA campaign.

The European Le Mans Series (ELMS) features four competitive classes: LMP2, LMP2 Pro/Am, LMP3, and LMGT3. Like the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, ELMS emphasizes long-distance, multi-driver endurance racing, attracting elite teams and drivers from around the globe. With a coveted automatic entry to the 24 Hours of Le Mans awarded to the top-finishing team, competition is fierce. The season begins with the pre-season Prologue test at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya on March 31.

DRIVER QUOTES

Louis Delétraz
I am super happy to be back with AO by TF. It’s always great to work with so many talented people. We won the championship last year and we all want to repeat that with Spike. PJ and I already shared the car at Le Mans and Canadian Tire Motorsport Park last year and it was awesome. He’s fast and dedicated, I’m happy we get to be teammates for a full season. Dane’s career and successes speak for itself. I’m excited to work with him too and truly believe we have strong line up. It will be fun working together. I can’t wait for the season to start.

Dane Cameron
I am very excited to race in ELMS for the first time alongside PJ and Louis. I think it will be a great compliment to our IMSA program and keep building on the strength we showed at Daytona. Having support from Louis and TF Sport will be a great help for understanding all the little details to win the championship as they proved last year.
